Call Letters for the Written Examination:
The date of the Written Examination is 22.05.2011 (Sunday). The date of written examination along with the Centre/Venue and time of the written examination will be intimated in the Call Letter which will be sent to all eligible candidates before the date of the Written Examination. All eligible candidates will be issued call-letters at the correspondence address given by
them in their online application, which will be sent by post.

Candidates who do not receive call letter latest by 16.05.2011
a) May download the Duplicate Call Letter from our Bank’s website www.iob.on by entering his/her details between
17.05.2011 to 21.05.2011.

OR

b) Obtain Duplicate Call Letter between 18.05.2011 and 21.05.2011 between 11.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m (on Saturday between 11.00 a.m to 2.00 p.m) by contacting in person at the address for the respective Centres given in the Annexure 'A' of Advertisement in our Bank's website www.iob.in in along with copy of Application, Registration Number and original
candidate’s copy of payment receipt.

Candidates have to affix his/her photograph on the call letter .Candidate has to bring this call letter along with original candidate’s copy of payment receipt while attending the written examination.

Note: Candidates have to submit original candidate’s copy of payment receipt along with Examination Call Letter while attending the written examination without which they will not be allowed to take up the examination. Note: The Version of the detailed advertisement given in the Bank’s website shall be treated as final and shall supercede any other versions for all purposes. Accordingly, the candidates are advised to visit Bank’s website
www.iob.in for detailed advertisement.

Decision of the Bank in respect of all matters pertaining to this recruitment would be final and binding on all candidates.

About Indian Overseas Bank (IOB)
The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) was established by Shri. M. Cr. M Chidambaram Chetyar in 1937 in Chennai. His main aim was to encourage the foreign exchange operations and overseas transactions. IOB had a good beginning as it started the operations with three branches simultaneously in Karaikudi, Chennai and Yangon. It was followed by branches in Penang and in Singapore. As the country attained Independence many more overseas branches were opened and IOB got a strong base in the International banking sector. In 1960’s the private banks were nationalized. IOB absorbed around 5 banks. In 1969, the Indian Overseas Bank was nationalized by the Indian Government. That turned the direction of the IOB to an extent. Till the nationalization, IOB was rapidly opening new branches abroad. 20 of its 80 branches were in foreign countries. After 1969, IOB turned to the rural India for opening new branches all over the country. In 1988, IOB acquired the Bank of Tamil Nadu which was under loss.

On the International front, IOB opened branches abroad periodically. Branches were opened in Rangoon, Penang, Singapore, Bangkok, Malaya and Sri Lanka. In 2007, IOB took over the Bharat Overseas Bank.

In line with its mission to encourage the overseas foreign exchange, IOB has attained a good expertise in the foreign banking transactions. At present, IOB has more than 2020 branches that includes six overseas branches. IOB boosts of having an Inhouse Information Technology department which is certified by the ISO. The bank has achieved the 100% networking of its branches and 100% CBS status for them. More than 770 ATMS are networked and the VISA Debit Card can be used at any of the ATMs with the Cash Tree and NFS networks. Taxes also can be paid online through IOB. The bank has surely contributed a lot in uplifting the foreign exchange facet of the Indian Banking industry and the economy on the whole.
